Four people, including a child, were killed after a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack targeted Novorossiysk in Russia’s Krasnodar Region, regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said on Wednesday.

The attack also left 29 people injured, with three of those wounded reported to be in serious condition, according to the governor.

Novorossiysk Reportedly Bore the Brunt of the Attack

Kondratyev said Russian servicemen had spent the night repelling what he described as a massive drone attack across the region, with Novorossiysk coming under the heaviest assault.

The governor did not provide details about the number of drones involved or specify which facilities were targeted. He also did not disclose how the Russian military responded to individual drone strikes.

29 People Injured in the Attack

Emergency and medical services were deployed following the incident, with the injured receiving medical treatment, according to the regional authorities.

Three of the 29 injured people were in serious condition, Kondratyev said. Further details about the victims and the extent of damage were not immediately provided.

Governor Offers Condolences to Victims’ Families

Kondratyev expressed condolences to the families and relatives of those killed, including the child, and said authorities were providing the necessary assistance to those wounded.

The reported casualties make the overnight incident one of the more serious drone attacks on Novorossiysk in recent months.

Attack Adds to Growing Cross-Border Drone Strikes

The incident comes amid continued Ukrainian and Russian claims of drone attacks against targets on each other’s territory as the war enters another phase of sustained long-range strikes.

The governor’s account of the Novorossiysk attack could not independently establish the circumstances surrounding each reported casualty. TASS cited Kondratyev’s Telegram statement as the source of the casualty figures.
