The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. along the 6300 block of Harry Hines Boulevard near Exchange Parkway, prompting a large emergency response as first responders rushed to assist passengers and the driver.
Authorities said the bus entered the exposed section of the road after the protective metal plate had moved, leaving an open hole in the street.

Dallas Fire-Rescue dispatched multiple units to the scene after receiving reports that numerous people aboard the bus required medical evaluations.
The response included seven rescue units and an EMS supervisor, reflecting concerns that several passengers may have suffered injuries during the incident.

Emergency officials confirmed that 15 people were transported to nearby medical facilities for further evaluation and treatment.
According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, four patients were taken to Parkland Hospital, another four were transported to Baylor, while seven others were taken to Dallas Methodist Hospital.

Early information released by Dallas Fire-Rescue indicated that six individuals, including the bus driver, declined transportation to a hospital.
However, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) later clarified that there were 18 people aboard the bus when the accident occurred and that only three individuals ultimately declined medical attention.
