Conor Maynard has finally responded to Charlotte Chilton’s latest interview, in which she doubled down on her claim that he is the father of her daughter, Penelope.
The singer, who recently got engaged to girlfriend Kitty Bertrand, has firmly denied fathering the child and hinted that the real father could be The Traitors star Jonny Holloway.
Charlotte Chilton Maintains Her Claims
Charlotte, 32, first announced her pregnancy in June last year, alleging that Conor was the father following a one-night stand.
Despite two separate paternity tests confirming that Conor is not the dad, she continues to insist he is Penelope’s biological father.
In a tearful interview last week, Charlotte claimed that the negative DNA results could be explained by a rare medical condition called chimerism.
She stated: “I can categorically say it is impossible, there is nobody else that Penelope could have come from.”
Charlotte vowed to continue fighting to prove her daughter’s parentage.
Conor Hits Back on Social Media
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Conor defended his credibility and shared a private message suggesting that Charlotte may have been involved with another man—Jonny Holloway from The Traitors.
The DM, from Holloway’s ex-wife, alleged that he had slept with Charlotte around the same time Penelope was conceived.
Conor stressed that he was not definitively claiming Jonny was the father, but wanted to highlight that Charlotte’s assertion that he was the only possible dad was false.
He said: “I feel that the main reason people are still doubting me is because of Charlotte’s statement that it can only be me… There’s a high likelihood that Penelope is someone else’s daughter.”
Addressing Chimerism and DNA Allegations
Charlotte’s chimerism theory suggests that she may have carried twins, with one twin transferring DNA to Penelope in a way that would prevent standard paternity tests from identifying the father.
She claimed the condition runs in her family and that this explains why the DNA tests returned negative results.
Conor, however, dismissed these claims, joking that he neither had the money nor the motive to bribe multi-billion-dollar DNA companies.
He reiterated: “If the DNA test showed I’m the father, then I’m the father. But that isn’t what happened.”
Conor’s Playful Social Media Responses
Earlier, Conor had mocked Charlotte’s claims in a humorous Instagram dance stitch while promoting his new single Cherry On Top.
In the clip, he jokingly offered an “invisible tissue for your invisible tears” and performed lyrics that seemed to reference the ongoing paternity saga: “Why you keep on talking baby, won’t you stop / Ain’t nobody listening ’cause you talk too much, please shut up with a cherry on top.”
He previously created another viral Instagram video, staging a mock press conference with journalists hurling questions at him about the paternity row.
The satirical clip included sly digs about DNA tests and rumors surrounding the paternity drama.
Background on the Paternity Tests
After Penelope’s birth, Charlotte claimed that Conor refused to acknowledge her as his own.
She also alleged irregularities in the testing process, including an unidentified male being present during the DNA sample collection and a last-minute switch of testing locations.
Despite her claims, the second court-accredited paternity test confirmed conclusively that Conor is not Penelope’s father.
Conor thanked his fans for their support and said he was relieved the situation was finally resolved: “This has been difficult for me and my family, and I’m glad we can now finally draw a line under this.”
Charlotte Reflects on the Emotional Toll
During her interview, Charlotte admitted that the ongoing dispute had taken a heavy emotional toll, even prompting suicidal thoughts.
She said: “I felt battered and just thought, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’ The scandal nearly destroyed me.”
Her representative emphasized her gratitude to supporters and legal advisors, stating that Charlotte will now take time to heal and eventually share her full story.
