During the final of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! this past Sunday, Coleen Rooney took the opportunity to throw a subtle jab at her long-time rival, Rebekah Vardy.
As she finished in second place, the 38-year-old WAG chatted with Ant and Dec about her time in the Jungle, where the conversation shifted to her well-known detective skills.
Coleen’s ability to uncover hidden truths was a key talking point, and she couldn’t resist alluding to her famous “Wagatha Christie” nickname.
A Nod to Her Sleuthing Skills
The conversation began when Declan Donnelly remarked on Coleen’s knack for sniffing out the truth, despite their best efforts to trick her.
“We did try pulling the wool over your eyes with a few little tricks, but you always seemed to sniff us out… she’s always one step ahead of us,” he said.
Ant McPartlin then asked, “Have you always had that instinct?” With a knowing smile, Coleen responded, “Yeah, I have, I’m quite good at sniffing things out!”
She even added, “I can weigh people up well,” subtly referencing her past role in uncovering the leak of personal stories to the press.
The Wagatha Christie Saga
This conversation naturally led to talk of the infamous Wagatha Christie saga, which began in 2019 when Coleen accused Rebekah of leaking stories about her to The Sun newspaper.
The legal drama that ensued captivated the nation, with Coleen emerging victorious in 2022 when a judge ruled that her claims were “substantially true.”
This was just the beginning, as a dispute over legal costs, dubbed WAG War II, followed.
In the latest development, Rebekah is appealing a decision that requires her to pay up to £1.8 million in legal costs after losing the libel case.
The Ongoing Legal Battle
In a three-day hearing last month, Rebekah’s legal team argued that the costs should be reduced due to alleged misconduct by Coleen’s legal team.
However, Senior Costs Judge Andrew Gordon-Saker ruled that there was no significant wrongdoing and upheld the original decision.
Rebekah, who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, is challenging this ruling, and it seems that the feud between the two women is far from over.
Rebekah’s Remarks About Coleen
Throughout Coleen’s time in the Jungle, Rebekah has made her opinions known, calling Coleen “dull” and even making disparaging remarks about her stint on the show.
Rebekah, who competed in I’m A Celebrity in 2017, has complained that the current campmates have it much easier than she did, particularly when it comes to food and luxuries.
“We hardly got any food for the first week, let alone home comforts,” Rebekah said, expressing her frustration with how the contestants this year were rewarded too quickly.
She added, “Cranky campmates make for the best TV.”
The Final Laugh Goes to Coleen
Despite the ongoing tension between the two, Coleen had the last laugh.
While Rebekah was the third contestant voted out of her season in 2017, Coleen managed to secure second place in the live final.
It’s clear that, at least for now, Coleen has triumphed over Rebekah, with the public’s favor firmly on her side.
