CBS is facing strong criticism after NFL fans accused the network of deliberately cutting out a player’s Trump-inspired celebration during a game this past Sunday.
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, following an impressive 20-yard touchdown run against the Miami Dolphins, performed the now-popular “Trump dance” on the field.
The celebration, a two-handed shuffle reminiscent of Donald Trump’s signature moves, has become a trending gesture among NFL players.
While CBS aired the moment live, fans noticed that the network’s social media post of the touchdown did not show Bowers completing the dance.
The edited clip ended just before he performed the two-handed shuffle, sparking fury among viewers.
Fans Call Out CBS for Editing the Celebration
Many fans took to social media to express their frustration, with some accusing CBS of intentionally leaving out the Trump dance.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Cutting out the Trump dance celebration? Wow. This is why CBS is a joke.”
Others questioned why CBS edited the footage, with some even linking the decision to political bias, suggesting the network was attempting to avoid promoting the dance.
“CBS, this is why he won. You’re part of the problem,” another user commented.
Trump’s Criticism of CBS
This incident adds to the tension between Donald Trump and CBS. Trump, recently re-elected after a surprising political comeback, has criticized the network for its editing practices in the past.
He lashed out on Truth Social following the release of a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris that was edited to remove a controversial response she gave regarding the Israel-Hamas war.
Trump called the editing a “Fake News Scam” and demanded that CBS lose its broadcasting license, accusing the network of election interference.
A Growing Trend in Sports
The “Trump dance” has gained popularity across sports following Trump’s election win.
NFL players, including Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans’ Calvin Ridley, and Detroit Lions’ Za’Darius Smith, have been seen celebrating big plays with the signature move.
UFC fighter Jon Jones also joined in on the fun after winning a match against Stipe Miocic, performing the dance at UFC 309.
Raiders’ Response and Media Interaction
After the game, Bowers was asked about his Trump-inspired celebration during a press conference.
However, when he declined to specifically name Trump in his explanation, his interview was abruptly cut short by the Raiders’ media staff.
There has been no official comment from the Raiders about ending the interview early, and CBS has not responded to requests for further clarification regarding the edited broadcast.
The growing popularity of the Trump dance continues to make waves not just in the NFL but in other sports, as players express their support for the president-elect through their celebratory moves.
What comes next for the movement remains to be seen.
