The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has selected Angolan referee Helder Martins to officiate Saturday’s crucial CAF Champions League clash between Al Ahly and Al-Merrikh.

After drawing (0-0) their opening game against Sudan’s Al Hilal, Al Ahly suffered a 1-0 defeat to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns at home in their second match.

Al Ahly are only third in the Group A standings

The Reds lie third with just one point from two matches, three points behind second-placed Al-Merrikh who they will face at home on Saturday, 5 March.

Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 SA time.

The match was due to be played last month in match-day 1, but due the Al Ahly’s commitments in the FIFA Club World Cup, the match had to be postponed.

The clash will be held in Cairo at the WE Al Ahly Al-Salam Stadium.

Helder Martins will be assisted by compatriots Gerson Emiliano and Molida Moses.

Gabon’s Eric Togo-Castane has been chosen as the fourth official.
