African governments urged to address conflicts

 
The African governments have been advised to develop a formidable peacekeeping strategies that will address Africa’s conflicts and security in a sustainable manner.

The Secretary to the Nigerian government Mr.

Boss Mustapha gave the advice at an award ceremony in Abuja by Africa Peace Magazine UK to some deserving African leaders and individuals who contributed to peace and humanity.

According him “many avoidable instability in Africa leads to some fundamental issues of African policy, pointing out that various peacekeeping strategies have failed to address security concerns in the continent.


Boss Mustapha who is a recipient, stressed that “the inability of many African governments to perform and deliver services for their citizens have contributed to the rising tensions between a reform – minded youth and an older generation of political actors who wield power through the politics of exclusion.

 

This he added, reflect in the pattern of corruption that has plagued many governments in the continent.

The SGF represented by Mr.

Paul Kanuh urged African governments to realized the potentials of it’s youths, encourage them and support them into governance and entrepreneurship.

The Nigeria’s First Lady Mrs.

Aisha Buhari also a recipient, represented by Aliyu Abdullahi advocated for greater synergy among African governments to pursue common peace for development.

Also, the Wife of Taraba State Governor North East Nigeria a recipient Mrs.

Anna Ishaku represented by Wife of a Senator Mrs.

Mamma Fati Shuaibu said, “addressing economic challenges among Africans, corruption and intolerance will help in containing conflicts in Africa.


Another award recipient and Wife of Kwara state Governor Mrs.

Olufalake Abdulrazaq while advocating for an end to gender base violence noted that, “improving the society is a collective task of all stakeholders in the continent.


The Chairman of the board and management of Africa Peace Magazine UK, Justice Suleiman Galadima (Rtd) while congratulating the awardees stressed the need “to establish education and training programmes based on progressive African Cultural values for the propagation of cultural principles to promote human dignity.


The theme of the Africa Peace Awards 2021 is “achieving peace and accelerated recovery of Africa’s economy post COVID-19.
