Tyson Fury has shared a deeply personal revelation ahead of his highly anticipated rematch with Oleksandr Usyk this weekend.
The heavyweight champion has been away from his wife, Paris, and their children for the last three months as he prepares for this crucial fight.
Despite being separated from his loved ones, Fury is focused on redemption after his previous loss to Usyk in May.
A Long, Sacrificial Training Camp
Fury, who has been married to Paris since 2008, spoke candidly about the sacrifices he’s made during his training camp.
In an interview with TNT Sports presenter Dev Sahni, he admitted that he hasn’t spoken to Paris at all for the past three months.
“It’s been a long camp. I’ve been away from my wife and kids for three months, not one word,” Fury revealed.
“I’ve sacrificed a lot.”
When Sahni mentioned that the sacrifice would be worth it if Fury wins, he responded with confidence: “It will be worth it, 100 percent.”
The Heartbreaking News Before the First Fight
Fury’s wife, Paris, has been by his side for many of his fights, often supporting him from ringside.
However, she wasn’t present at the first Usyk fight earlier this year.
It was later revealed that Paris had suffered a miscarriage the night before the fight.
Fury shared that he didn’t know immediately but realized something was wrong when Paris told him she couldn’t attend the fight due to high blood pressure.
“I knew she wasn’t coming over on the Friday… I knew there was a problem,” Fury explained.
He said he suspected the worst when he was unable to speak to her directly about it.
He added, “She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew.”
Despite not receiving direct confirmation at the time, Fury later learned that Paris had, in fact, lost the baby.
The situation was especially painful as he couldn’t be there to support her during such a difficult time.
“She had to physically give birth to a dead child, on her own, while your husband is in a foreign country. I could not be there for her in that moment,” he said.
Past Heartbreaks and Family Struggles
The Fury family has endured other heartbreaking moments in the past.
In 2014, Paris gave birth to a stillborn child, and four years later, she suffered another miscarriage.
She found out about this second miscarriage the same day Tyson made his long-awaited comeback to boxing in 2018, but she kept it to herself until after the fight.
Although Tyson has insisted that these personal tragedies didn’t affect his performance in the ring against Usyk, his trainer, Andy Lee, believes the emotional toll might have played a role.
Lee recalled noticing that Fury was unusually quiet and seemed agitated before stepping into the ring.
“He wasn’t really himself. Usually, he’s quite within himself,” Lee observed, adding that Fury seemed to have some anxiety leading up to the fight.
Focused on the Rematch and Looking Ahead
Now, with the rematch just days away, Fury is in Saudi Arabia, gearing up for one of the biggest fights of his career.
While it’s unclear whether Paris will be ringside for this fight, Fury is already looking forward to reuniting with his family for Christmas.
This time, he hopes to return with some heavyweight titles to share with them in the UK.
