Tragic Loss of a Young Girl at Co Cork Beach

A heartbreaking incident unfolded at Fountainstown Beach, situated near Crosshaven in Co Cork, as a young girl tragically lost her life after going missing.

Alarm Raised and Emergency Response

The alarm was raised at approximately 4.40pm on a Tuesday, prompting an immediate and extensive search operation by emergency services. This included the involvement of Irish police (Gardai), the Coast Guard, RNLI, Fire Services, Customs, and Mallow River Rescue.

Discovery of the Deceased Child

Regrettably, the search ended with the recovery of the lifeless body of a female child from the water at approximately 7.45pm. Despite efforts, the child was pronounced deceased.

Post-Mortem Examination and Notification to Coroner

In the wake of this tragic incident, a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place to determine the circumstances of the young girl’s passing. The Coroner has also been officially informed of the heartbreaking events.
