FCT Minister Threatens to Shut Down Illegal Motor Parks Over Rising ‘One-Chance’ Robbery

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has threatened to shut down illegal motor parks operating in Abuja due to the rising incidence of ‘one-chance’ robbery in the city.

Wike, speaking during a chat with journalists in his office in Abuja on Thursday, said the FCT Administration is working hard to curb robbery and kidnapping in the city.

He disclosed that a joint task force on cross-border crimes was set up last week to tackle the security menace called ‘one-chance’ robbery and guarantee the safety of lives and properties of residents.

Wike also blamed the rising crime in the capital city on illegal motor parks and uncompleted buildings used as dens by criminals.

He said that the FCT Administration is planning to shut down some of these illegal motor parks and uncompleted buildings in order to make it more difficult for criminals to operate.
