Authorities have uncovered that the US Army veteran responsible for a deadly attack on New Year’s revelers in New Orleans’s French Quarter tried to sell firearms and ammunition online just weeks before the tragic incident.
Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old US citizen from Texas, drove an electric vehicle from Houston to New Orleans to carry out the attack, which killed 14 people and injured at least 35 others.
Online Gun Sales and Chilling Listings
Records from firearms classifieds website Armslist.com, obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, show that Jabbar listed multiple guns for sale between November and December 2024.
One of his listings featured a 12-gauge shotgun with a chilling description, claiming it was “great for sending home invaders to Hell!” Jabbar had tried to sell three handguns and a shotgun online, including a Ruger SP101 revolver and a CZ-52 pistol, along with ammunition and accessories.
FBI Investigation and Raid on Airbnb Property
The FBI’s investigation into Jabbar’s background has revealed that he rented a property near the French Quarter on Airbnb, which was reportedly used as a base for the attack.
FBI agents, along with ATF and Homeland Security, raided the two-bedroom property on New Year’s Day, seizing bomb-making materials and other evidence.
Authorities also confirmed the retrieval of phones and laptops from the location, hoping to uncover more information about the attack.
Digital Footprint and Social Media Activity
Before carrying out the attack, Jabbar posted disturbing videos on his now-deleted Facebook page between 1:29am and 3:02am on January 1, 2025, explaining the motives behind his actions.
He described his initial plans to harm his family and friends but shifted his focus to a more public attack after he feared his actions wouldn’t make the news headlines.
Authorities have also confirmed that Jabbar had claimed to join ISIS earlier in 2024, and he left behind a will and testament before the attack.
Authorities Continue to Investigate
In the aftermath of the terror attack, investigators have been working tirelessly to uncover further details of Jabbar’s activities and connections.
While the FBI initially believed there might be multiple individuals involved in the plot, they now suspect that Jabbar acted alone.
The agency has not yet clarified the connection between Jabbar’s actions and other terrorist attacks, such as the bombing in Las Vegas, which is still under investigation.
The tragic event on Bourbon Street has left the community in shock as authorities continue to piece together the puzzle of Jabbar’s preparations for the deadly assault.
