Tesco recalls £2.50 packs of All Butter Croissants over nut allergy fears

Tesco is recalling six-packs of All Butter Croissants due to concerns that some were packed erroneously with almond varieties.

The retailer announced the recall on Tuesday, advising customers with allergies not to consume them since almond is not listed on the box.

Tesco is now requesting that anybody who has purchased the item return it to a shop for a refund. No receipt is necessary.

Six-packs of 255g croissants with the batch code LL 111 are impacted.

They cost £2.50 and have a best before date of September 2022.

‘Tesco is recalling Tesco Frozen All Butter Croissants 6 pack because it may contain almonds (nuts) not mentioned on the label’, the company said a statement.

‘Due to a packaging error some packs may have been incorrectly packed with Tesco Frozen Almond Croissants, which contain almonds (nuts).

‘This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to almonds (nuts).’

Tesco and the Government’s Food Standards Agency have issued an urgent recall notice and a ‘do not eat’ warning.

Those allergic to nuts who come into contact with them may go into anaphylactic shock, which can be lethal.

The product recall was issued today with a 'do not eat' warning

Tesco is asking shoppers who have bought them to return them to the nearest store for a full refund as soon as possible.

It has also contacted the relevant allergy support organisations which will be able to inform their clubcard members about the urgent recall.

The supermarket also had to recall cooked chicken products over salmonella fears earlier this month.

Those with allergies can experience anaphylactic shock which can be deadly if they do not seek urgent medical attention.
