Teenagers Attack Staff and Throw Chairs Outside Family Restaurant in Broadstairs Causing Chaos on Seaside Street

A seaside town in Kent saw a shocking scene unfold recently when a group of around 30 teenagers caused havoc outside a popular family restaurant.

What started as a chase quickly escalated into a chaotic and violent confrontation, leaving staff and customers terrified.

Teen Throws Chairs as Staff Try to Protect Their Workplace

A disturbing video has been circulating online showing a gang of teens aggressively approaching Sardinia, an Italian restaurant in Broadstairs.

The clip, just under a minute long, captures the moment tensions boil over.

Two restaurant workers stand in the doorway trying to keep the peace when one teenager suddenly shoves one of the men.

Another teen then picks up a chair and throws it at a glass window, shattering the calm.

Before long, chairs are flying back and forth, hurled between the young attackers and staff members.

Customers inside watched in disbelief as one staff member even chased a fleeing teenager down the street after the chair-throwing incident.

Loud shouting echoed as the teen ran away, clearly rattled by the quick response.

The Chase Behind the Violence

The violence appears to have been sparked by the group of teens chasing another young person who had sought refuge inside the restaurant for safety.

Tony, the restaurant manager, described the situation, saying there were several tables of guests present when the attack happened.

“They were trying to get to this boy who they already attacked to beat him again,” Tony explained.

“We let him inside and shut the doors, but then they attacked the staff and started throwing chairs.

He was half their size — I don’t know why they wanted to do this. There were about 30 of them.”

Tony also expressed frustration that the parents of some of the teens involved had yet to make contact following the incident.

Broader Disorder in Broadstairs Leads to Police Action

This incident wasn’t isolated. Other businesses in Broadstairs suffered damage, including broken windows.

The town also experienced reports of street fights, underage drinking, bottles thrown at beach huts, and thefts, adding to a growing sense of unrest.

In response to the chaos, police issued a dispersal order aimed at curbing the trouble caused by a small but disruptive group of youths.

Officers patrolled the area, including the town centre, beaches, and even the train station, to ensure public safety.

Police Make Arrests and Promise Increased Patrols

Kent Police confirmed they responded to multiple reports of anti-social behaviour on the evening of June 19, 2025.

Three arrests were made—two boys aged 16 and 17, and a 15-year-old girl—all from the Thanet area.

They were released on bail as investigations continue.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said, “We understand residents may be concerned about crime and disorder caused by a small minority, but officers will maintain a visible presence to prevent further offences.”

The dispersal order grants police powers to stop and search individuals and to move groups from specific areas under the Public Order Act.

This is part of ongoing efforts to keep Broadstairs safe and calm as investigations continue.
