Suzy Eddie Izzard turned heads in Notting Hill on Monday as she made her way around the London neighbourhood on a public bicycle, taking advantage of the lingering warm weather.
The 64-year-old comedian opted for a summery ensemble that included a pleated mini-skirt, denim jacket and striking knee-high black boots.
She completed the look with bright pink nail extensions, bronzed make-up and sunglasses tucked behind her ears.
Izzard was pictured cycling without a helmet during the outing.
Comedian keeps her look casual but distinctive
The comedian appeared relaxed as she navigated the streets, wearing her hair swept back while combining the casual denim jacket with the more dramatic heeled boots.
Her appearance comes as Izzard continues to balance a busy public career with an increasingly open discussion about identity, neurodiversity and her personal experiences.
Known for her distinctive stand-up career, Izzard identifies as gender fluid and uses she/her pronouns.
She began using the name Suzy in 2023.
Izzard discusses possibility of an ADHD diagnosis
Earlier this year, Izzard revealed that she would be open to undergoing an assessment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder after being encouraged to consider whether some of her longstanding characteristics could correspond with the condition.
Speaking on the I’m ADHD! No You’re Not podcast with comedian Paul Whitehouse and Dr Mine Conkbayir, Izzard was presented with several traits commonly associated with ADHD, including lateral thinking, hyperfocus and rapid pattern recognition.
She agreed that she recognised a number of those characteristics in herself.
The discussion also touched on possible links between neurodivergence and gender non-conformity.
Dr Conkbayir suggested that reduced sensitivity to traditional social expectations, including conventional gender roles, could be relevant to the discussion.
Gender identity has remained a complex subject
Izzard has previously spoken about the difficulties surrounding public debates over sex and gender, describing the subject as a particularly complicated area.
In a 2024 interview with The Telegraph, she said she regarded women’s rights and transgender rights as human rights and argued that people should be able to live alongside one another.
Izzard has also expressed support for author J.K. Rowling and other gender-critical feminists who argue that biological sex is an important consideration in discussions surrounding gender.
She has previously said she does not want to become embroiled in arguments over biological determinism, describing the debate as a “minefield.”
Izzard has spoken openly about her gender journey
Izzard first publicly identified as a transvestite in 1985, although she has said she knew from the age of four that she wanted to be a girl.
She has also revealed that she did not tell her father about her gender identity until shortly before making it public.
Born in Aden, modern-day Yemen, in 1962, Izzard moved with her family to Bexhill on the East Sussex coast when she was seven.
Her experiences with gender identity have remained a recurring part of her public story, although her comedy career has continued to be the defining feature of her professional life.
She has always been open about being attracted to women
Izzard has previously discussed her sexuality and relationships, explaining that she has always been attracted to women rather than men.
Her last publicly known relationship was with singer Sarah Townsend.
During an appearance on the Rosebud podcast with Gyles Brandreth, Izzard said she would be happy to have children but acknowledged that parenthood was not currently part of her life.
She also explained that, although she is transgender, her romantic attraction has consistently been towards women.
Izzard says she is content without actively seeking romance
The comedian has also made clear that she is not currently searching for a relationship, saying she is comfortable with her own company.
She acknowledged that relationships can be complicated for transgender people but said she was happy with where she is in life.
Rather than actively pursuing romance, Izzard said she would remain open to meeting someone naturally if the right connection developed.
For now, her focus appears to remain on enjoying life on her own terms, with her latest Notting Hill outing offering another glimpse of the comedian away from the stage.
