Zara’s Strictly Ban on Sam Thompson
Zara McDermott, a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, has made an unconventional decision by banning her boyfriend, Sam Thompson, from attending the live shows.
The reasoning behind this unique choice is shared by Sam himself, adding a fun twist to their Strictly journey.
A Unique Decision Unveiled
Zara, who gained fame from the fourth series of Love Island, is competing in this year’s Strictly alongside professional dancer Graziano Di Parma.
However, if she remains on the show beyond October 15, her boyfriend Sam Thompson won’t be cheering her on from the audience.
Sam, aged 31, disclosed this amusing arrangement during his radio show, “Hits UK with Sam Thompson.” He humorously mentioned, “If you’re wondering why you haven’t seen me in the Strictly audience, I’ve been told to stay at home! Zara and I have agreed that I can do more damage from the sofa – by which I mean garner more votes!”
Sam’s Sofa Strategy
Sam elaborated on their decision, stating, “I can go on Instagram stories and really be like ‘Vote for Zara!’ because the actual studio audience aren’t allowed to bring their phones into the studio.
You can’t do anything in the studio with your phone, so we thought we’d go for a multi-pronged attack with me on the sofa at home!”
Strictly Performance and Absence
In the latest episode of Strictly, Zara and Graziano performed a Viennese Waltz to Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me.”
While their performance didn’t secure the top spot, scoring 28 out of 40, they maintained their spot in the competition.
Zara’s Wardrobe Secrets
Zara McDermott also shared insights into the meticulous measures taken by the Strictly wardrobe department to prevent wardrobe malfunctions.
She revealed that she was literally stitched into her outfit just moments before taking the stage, emphasizing the wardrobe team’s exceptional efforts to ensure the dancers’ confidence in their costumes.
Dedication to Training
Furthermore, Zara opened up about her intensive training with Graziano, highlighting the rigorous schedule they follow.
She mentioned that they put in long hours of practice, often training from early morning to late evening. Sam’s radio show commitments coincide with these hours, leaving Zara to rehearse alone or with the company of their cats.
