Strengthening port security is the focus of two five-day workshops in Cape Town, South Africa, for Designated Authorities and Port Facility Security Officers (PFSOs) on the execution of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) (6-10 June and 13-17 June).

The IMO course, co-organized with the United Kingdom Department of Transport (DfT), brings together maritime security specialists from the DfT and training providers who want to develop their knowledge and skills in order to become ISPS trainers.

This training course will help to build a pool of maritime security professionals capable of conducting ISPS training in South Africa and throughout the region.

During the second week, participants can put what they learned in the first session to use. The events take place at the TNPA Maritime Training Centre in Cape Town’s harbor.

APO Group distributed on behalf of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
