Sofinnova Partners, the life sciences venture capital firm with offices in Paris, London, and Milan, has appointed David Evans as a Partner, reinforcing its investment leadership as it continues to focus on late-stage opportunities across the biotechnology and healthcare sectors.
The appointment brings to the firm an experienced physician-scientist whose career combines clinical practice, pharmaceutical research, health policy, and venture investing.
Extensive Background Across Medicine and Biopharma
Evans joins Sofinnova Partners after serving as Senior Investment Director at the Roche Venture Fund, where he led investments in life sciences companies and collaborated on several deals alongside Sofinnova.
His experience spans every stage of the healthcare ecosystem, from treating patients to supporting the development and commercialization of innovative medicines.
Before transitioning into venture capital, he built a career across major pharmaceutical organizations, including Roche, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Eli Lilly.
In these roles, he led global data science teams, contributed to drug development programs, and supported products moving through clinical pipelines and commercial launches.
Experience Beyond the Pharmaceutical Industry
Earlier in his professional journey, Evans worked in international health policy and financing at the World Bank, helping shape healthcare initiatives on a global scale.
He also gained frontline medical experience as a physician in Australia and while serving with Médecins Sans Frontières, providing care in challenging healthcare environments.
This combination of clinical, policy, and industry expertise has given him a broad understanding of healthcare innovation and the path from scientific discovery to patient care.
Key Role in Sofinnova’s Crossover Strategy
At Sofinnova Partners, Evans will contribute to the firm’s Crossover Strategy, which focuses on investing in both private and publicly traded life sciences companies at later stages of development.
His pharmaceutical and drug development experience is expected to strengthen the investment team’s ability to evaluate advanced therapeutic programs and support companies as they progress toward commercialization.
Strong Academic Foundation
Evans completed his medical training at the University of Sydney in Australia before further advancing his academic qualifications.
He earned a Master of Science in biostatistics and research methods as well as a PhD in epidemiology, providing a strong scientific foundation for his work across medicine, research, and investment.
Strategic Appointment for Future Growth
The addition of Evans reflects Sofinnova Partners’ continued emphasis on strengthening its expertise in life sciences investing.
With experience spanning patient care, public health, pharmaceutical innovation, and venture capital, he is expected to play an important role in identifying and supporting promising healthcare companies through the firm’s late-stage investment strategy.
