British fashion designer Savannah Miller has revealed that watching her younger sister, actress Sienna Miller, embrace motherhood later in life gave her the confidence to pursue another pregnancy after remarrying.

The 47-year-old, who is expecting a baby boy with her husband James Whewell, said seeing Sienna’s experience transformed the way she viewed having another child.

Already a mother to three children—Moses, 21, Lyra, 18, and Bali, 14—from her previous marriage to Nick Skinner, Savannah admitted she once believed that having a baby in her forties would mean starting motherhood from scratch.

Sienna’s Journey Became a Turning Point

According to Savannah, her perspective shifted after Sienna welcomed her second child with fiancé Oli Green in 2024.

Spending time with her young niece helped her appreciate how much she had changed since becoming a mother for the first time decades earlier.

She explained that, unlike her younger years when she constantly felt pressured to prove herself professionally and personally, she now approaches parenting with greater patience and perspective.

By the time Sienna later shared news of another pregnancy in 2025, Savannah said she viewed it as a meaningful sign that she, too, could take the leap.

A New Marriage Opened the Door to New Possibilities

Savannah met James Whewell roughly six months after separating from her first husband, Nick Skinner.

Their relationship quickly flourished, culminating in a wedding in 2022.

As the couple discussed the possibility of having a child together, Savannah said James consistently reassured her that he would support whichever path she chose.

His encouragement, combined with her evolving outlook on motherhood, ultimately strengthened her desire to grow their family.

Fertility Journey Kept Largely Private

The couple publicly announced in March that they were expecting their first child together following what Savannah described as a complicated fertility journey.

Although they have spoken openly about the emotional process, Savannah said they intentionally decided not to reveal how the pregnancy was achieved.

She believes that information belongs to their unborn son, who should have the freedom to decide in the future whether he wishes to share those details publicly.

Experience Has Changed Her View of Parenting

Reflecting on the differences between raising children in her twenties and preparing for a baby in her late forties, Savannah said she now feels far more present and emotionally grounded.

She described motherhood today as an opportunity to appreciate each stage rather than rushing through it.

With her eldest child approaching adulthood, she said she has become acutely aware of how quickly childhood passes and hopes to savor every moment with her youngest son.

Savannah also credited her current stage of life and her relationship with James for giving her a deeper sense of confidence and emotional stability than she experienced as a younger parent.

Pregnancy Alongside Her Sister Was No Coincidence

Savannah has previously admitted that the timing of her pregnancy was intentional.

She explained that after seeing Sienna successfully navigate motherhood again, she hoped they might share the experience together if circumstances allowed.

The possibility of facing pregnancy alongside her sister made the prospect feel less daunting and ultimately encouraged her to pursue it.

When announcing the pregnancy publicly, Savannah described their unborn child as a “longed for miracle baby” and expressed gratitude for the chance to experience pregnancy again with James, whom she praised as a devoted father figure to her three older children.

Couple Enjoys Final Getaway Before Baby’s Arrival

Earlier this month, Savannah and James took a relaxing babymoon ahead of their son’s expected arrival in August.

The couple shared photographs from their stay at a countryside retreat near Bath, where they spent time exploring gardens, enjoying local treats and taking in the peaceful surroundings as they prepared to welcome their newest family member.

Speaking Out Against Stigma Around Later-Life Motherhood

Savannah has also challenged criticism surrounding women who choose to have children later in life.

She argued that society often applies different standards to women than men when it comes to parenthood, questioning why age becomes a major topic only for mothers. In her view, if pregnancy is medically possible, women should feel free to make the decision that is right for them without facing unnecessary judgment.

Blended Family Begins a New Chapter

Before marrying James, Savannah spent years raising her three children while also acting as stepmother to Nick Skinner’s son, Java.

James, who is heir to the Wyresdale Park estate in Lancashire, now runs the historic property with Savannah as a wedding venue.

As they prepare for the birth of their son, the couple say they are looking forward to beginning this new chapter together, supported by a larger blended family and inspired by the shared experience of motherhood between Savannah and her sister, Sienna.
