As previously reported by Naija News, Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, was sworn in as the 10th National Assembly Senate President on Tuesday, alongside Senator Barau Jibrin as the Deputy Senate President.

Merit and Independence: Expectations for the New Senate President

Ubani, a renowned rights activist and lawyer, congratulated Akpabio on his election and urged him not to become a rubber-stamp Senate President who simply follows the direction of others.
