Engagement season is in full swing, and this time it’s The Real Housewives of New York City star Ubah Hassan who’s stealing the spotlight.
Over the weekend, Ubah said yes to her longtime love, Oliver Dachsel, a senior VP at Aris Mining and affectionately known as “Mr. Connecticut.”
Their romantic proposal unfolded in the middle of a desert, creating a picture-perfect moment straight out of a movie.
A Beautiful Moment Filled With Emotion
Oliver got down on one knee while Ubah was seated on a chair, surprising her with a stunning diamond ring.
The 41-year-old reality star couldn’t hold back tears as she accepted the proposal from her 44-year-old fiancé.
Wearing a simple yet elegant white blouse and matching pants, Ubah looked radiant—and emotional—as she embraced Oliver, a German businessman she met through mutual friends back in 2022.
Sharing the Big News with Friends and Family
Of course, Ubah didn’t keep this happy news to herself for long.
She FaceTimed her RHONY castmate Jessel Taank, who was totally caught off guard and thrilled by the surprise.
Ubah also showed off the dazzling ring to her personal trainer Kim Strother, who couldn’t stop gushing over it.
Even Ubah’s cousin Chanel Ayan, who stars on The Real Housewives of Dubai, chimed in with joyful congratulations, sharing her excitement about celebrating the engagement.
Bravo Stars Join the Celebration Online
The congratulatory messages kept pouring in from all corners of Bravo’s universe.
Executive producer and Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen called the proposal “outstanding.”
Fellow Bravo celebrities like Garcelle Beauvais, Rebecca Minkoff, Crystal Kung Minkoff, Ariana Madix, and many others shared their love and best wishes on social media, making it clear that Ubah’s happy news is being celebrated far and wide.
A Dream Ring and Family Plans
Earlier this year, Ubah had shared in an interview that her ideal engagement ring would have been a rare yellow diamond instead of the classic clear one she received.
But she made it clear that diamonds were never the most important thing to her.
“I don’t even care about the diamonds. I have diamonds—I don’t need diamonds. I have him,” she said with a smile.
The couple also expanded their family last November by adopting a seven-month-old Goldendoodle named Miles.
While Ubah revealed she wanted to start trying to get pregnant last year, for now, the adorable new addition is their furry bundle of joy.
From Instagram to the Red Carpet
Though the couple only made their relationship Instagram official last September, they already made a splash on the red carpet at the American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala in October 2023.
Their journey from public announcement to engagement has been full of love and memorable moments.
What’s Next for Ubah and RHONY Fans
Sadly for fans eager to follow Ubah’s wedding planning, Bravo is shaking things up.
Executive producer Andy Cohen revealed that casting has begun for the 16th season of Real Housewives of New York City, with 10 potential new cast members being considered.
This means viewers might not get to see much of Ubah’s upcoming nuptials on the show.
From its early days as “Manhattan Moms” to now, RHONY has evolved a lot since 2009, when the original cast members were paid modest sums to appear.
But one thing remains constant: the drama, the glamour, and the unforgettable moments that keep fans coming back season after season.
