UPDATE – Orlando Pirates are now winless in their last two matches in the Premier Soccer League after drawing 0-0 with Cape Town City at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The big news coming into this game was Happy Jele’s relegation to the bench as the Pirates technical team rested the veteran defender ahead of Saturday’s clash against Kaizer Chiefs. Ntsikelelo Nyauza filled the void left Jele in the starting line-up as co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids made one change to the team which faced and defeated Eswatini’s Royal Leopards on Sunday.

The Buccaneers were up against a City side that had defeated Lamontville Golden Arrows on February 20. Former coach Eric Tinkler made two changes to the team which took on Arrows with Tashreeq Morris and Fabrice Ambina replacing Mogamat May and Craig Martin in the starting line-up.

We are fast approaching the first 15 minutes of the game, and it’s been Pirates all over with Deon Hotto and Bandile Shandu presented with good goalscoring opportunities.

Another attack by Pirates from the right-hand side with a cross played into the Cape Town City box but Hugo Marques pulls a great save to deny Kwame Peprah.

Peprah tried a cheeky backheel from inside the small box but Marques made himself big to keep the scoreline at 0-0 after 18 minutes.

Pirates get behind the Cape Town City defence yet again as Peprah combine with Shandu after 30 minutes.

However, Marques goes down to his right to make a very impressive save.
