Ondo State Security Agency, Amotekun, Rounds Up 62 Suspected Criminals in Strategic Ember Month Patrol

Amotekun’s Strategic Patrol and Arrests:

In a proactive move to ensure a crime-free holiday season, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, paraded sixty-two individuals allegedly involved in various criminal activities across the state.

The suspects, apprehended in different locations spanning the state’s eighteen local government areas, were presented at the agency’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

Commander Adeleye Briefs on Operations:

Addressing the media during the parade, the state commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that the arrests were a result of distress calls received and collaborative efforts with other state security agencies, including the police, NSCDC, DSS, and the Nigeria Army.

The strategic ember month patrol aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and properties in Ondo State and along its highways.

Diverse Criminal Activities Uncovered:

Commander Adeleye highlighted the variety of criminal activities the suspects were allegedly involved in, ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery and arson.

Notably, one of the apprehended individuals, Usman Garuba, was accused of kidnapping, collecting ransom, and orchestrating the burning down of an entire village in retaliation to resistance.

Garuba, an ex-convict, was among those held in custody.

Commitment to Public Safety:

Emphasizing the commitment to public safety, Adeleye asserted that the eagle-eyed operatives successfully tracked down suspects in different locations, including the Ala/Dada/Ago Oyinbo axis of Akure North Local Government and the Elegbeka axis in Ose LGA.

The suspects included alleged kidnappers, armed robbers caught in the act, and individuals specializing in breaking into shops.

The parade of apprehended suspects showcases Amotekun’s dedication to maintaining law and order during the holiday season.

The collaborative efforts with various security agencies underscore the importance of inter-agency cooperation in combating crime.
