The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that Mirabel, whose viral TikTok post alleged she was sexually assaulted, has been discharged from the hospital but continues to assist with police investigations.

The case has drawn intense attention online, sparking widespread discussion across social media platforms.

Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi explained that Mirabel initially struggled to provide a coherent account of events when she first arrived at the police station, prompting medical intervention.

Immediate Medical Attention Was Prioritized

Babaseyi told News Central Television that the duty officer quickly took Mirabel to a state hospital for treatment after noticing her confusion and distress.

“And the DPO was trying to debrief her to get facts of the case, but we found out that she wasn’t that coherent at that point in time, so he had to promptly take her to the hospital, a state hospital, for attention,” Babaseyi said.

The spokesperson emphasized that her welfare was the top priority.

Mirabel was admitted to the ICU to ensure she received appropriate care, reflecting the police command’s professional response to serious sexual assault allegations.

Misunderstandings About Arrests

Contrary to some online rumours, Mirabel was never arrested.

Babaseyi clarified that she remained free to communicate with anyone she chose, underlining that the police treated her as a presumed victim, not a suspect.

“As a presumed victim of sexual assault, what should we do? She had her freedom to communicate with who she wanted to communicate with,” Babaseyi added.

Disputed Allegations Spark Online Outrage

The controversy began after Mirabel, known on TikTok as @mirab351, posted a distressing video alleging that an unidentified intruder broke into her apartment, sexually assaulted her, and sent threatening messages.

She also claimed the trauma led her to attempt suicide.

The video quickly went viral, prompting outrage and calls for immediate action.

Initially, some reports linked the alleged assault to Lagos State, but subsequent police investigations confirmed that the incident took place in Ogijo, Ogun State, placing jurisdiction with the Ogun State Police Command.

Investigation Continues

Following her discharge from the hospital, Mirabel has remained with police to provide further statements as authorities continue to investigate the allegations.

“She has been happily discharged from the hospital and as we speak now, she’s with us for us to further the investigation and to get to the logical conclusions of whether those allegations were true or not,” Babaseyi confirmed.

The police reiterated that the investigation is being handled professionally and urged the public to rely on verified information rather than spreading unconfirmed claims.

What’s Next?

The Ogun State Police Command will continue to examine evidence and interview potential witnesses to determine the validity of Mirabel’s claims.

Authorities are likely to release further updates once they reach key conclusions.

Meanwhile, social media reactions are expected to remain intense, reflecting both public interest in the case and ongoing debates about online safety, sexual assault reporting, and victim support in Nigeria.
