Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has strongly responded to critics amidst an ongoing dispute with the Lagos State administration.
The actress recently used social media to express her dissatisfaction with the tax bill she received from the government, prompting a backlash.
Tax Dispute and Outrage:
Iyabo Ojo received a notice from the Lagos State Government stating that she owes a tax debt of N7,376,000.00 for the year 2022, along with an outstanding responsibility of N11,264,092 for the income year 2021.
In response, she took to her Instagram page to express her outrage, criticizing the government for imposing such a high amount.
The actress revealed that she had previously raised concerns about the tax issue but received no resolution.
Frustrated with the lack of action, she boldly stated that if she is not making any payments, the government is free to resort to extreme measures such as imprisonment or arrest.
This led to social media users mocking and taunting her, referring to her support for Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.
Rejection of Tribal Bigotry:
Following the criticism, Iyabo Ojo posted another tweet declaring that she would not bow down to any tribal bigots.
While she deleted her initial social media post criticizing Governor Sanwo-Olu, she reiterated her support for Peter Obi and emphasized her determination to fearlessly speak up for a better Nigeria.
Amidst the tax dispute with the Lagos State Government, Iyabo Ojo has faced criticism and responded defiantly.
The actress expressed her frustration with the imposed tax bill and highlighted the lack of action taken by the government.
Despite facing backlash, she firmly rejected tribal bigotry and reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for positive change in the country.
