Kaduna Government Denies N2.3 Trillion APC Campaign Funding Claim, Calls Viral Letter Fake

The Kaduna State Government has denied claims that Governor Uba Sani approved and released N2.3 trillion to fund the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign.

The government described a viral letter containing the allegation as fabricated, fraudulent and misleading, saying it was intended to damage the governor’s reputation for fiscal discipline and responsible management of public funds.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, issued the government’s response in a statement on Saturday in Kaduna.

Alleged Letter Contains Errors and Questionable Signature

Maiyaki said the document, dated October 18, 2026, and titled “Notification for Preparations for the Grand Rally Flag Off,” contained several inconsistencies that raised doubts about its authenticity.

The purported letter was allegedly addressed to Senator Abdulazeez Yari, identified in the document as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. It claimed that N2.3 trillion had been released for the campaign flag-off.

According to Maiyaki, the document misspelled the governor’s surname as “Uba Sai” and appeared to reproduce his signature without authorisation.

“The Kaduna State Government categorically disowns this document. Gov. Uba Sani neither authored nor authorised the purported letter, and no N2.3 trillion was budgeted, approved or released,” the commissioner said.

Government Cites Kaduna’s N985.92 Billion Budget

The commissioner questioned the financial plausibility of the alleged expenditure, noting that Kaduna State’s approved 2026 budget stood at N985.92 billion.

He said the purported N2.3 trillion release was more than twice the state’s annual budget and was unsupported by any authentic appropriation, approval or expenditure records.

Maiyaki described the allegation as fictitious and accused those responsible for circulating the letter of attempting to mislead the public about the state government’s financial activities.

Administration Highlights Spending Priorities

Maiyaki said Sani had prioritised fiscal discipline, transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

He listed security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and social protection among the administration’s spending priorities.

The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, citizens’ welfare, institutional strengthening, peace and sustainable governance.

Kaduna Government Raises Concerns Over Political Misinformation

The state government expressed concern over what Maiyaki described as coordinated misinformation intended to discredit Sani and his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He warned that fabricating official correspondence and circulating false claims about public expenditure could constitute criminal offences.

“Political competition must be conducted within the bounds of truth, decency and the law,” Maiyaki said, urging critics to rely on credible evidence when raising questions about government spending.

Investigations Sought Into Origin of Letter

Maiyaki disclosed that steps were being taken to establish the origin of the purported letter.

He also called on security and investigative agencies to examine the document and ensure that anyone found responsible faced appropriate legal action.

The commissioner urged media organisations and members of the public to verify documents before publishing or circulating allegations involving public funds.

He said the administration would continue to focus on responsible financial management and its development priorities despite what the government described as deliberate misinformation.
