The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has cautioned Nigerians against believing a recruitment announcement currently circulating across social media platforms, describing it as false and unauthorised.
According to the Service, the widely shared update did not originate from the agency and should be ignored by anyone seeking employment with the organisation.
Public Advised to Use Only Official Information Sources
In a statement released on Thursday, the NCS urged members of the public to verify any recruitment-related information through its official communication channels before taking action or sharing such content with others.
The agency stressed that authentic announcements regarding its activities, including recruitment exercises, would only be published through its verified platforms.
Part of the statement read: “The Nigeria Customs Service wishes to inform the public that the purported recruitment update currently circulating on some social media platforms is fake and did not originate from the Service.”
Recruitment Scams Continue to Target Job Seekers
The warning comes amid persistent cases of recruitment fraud in Nigeria, where scammers frequently exploit the high demand for government jobs by creating fake employment advertisements.
In many cases, unsuspecting applicants are deceived into paying money or providing personal information under the false promise of securing government positions.
Authorities have repeatedly warned Nigerians to remain cautious and avoid unofficial recruitment offers.
Verify Before You Apply
The Customs Service encouraged prospective applicants and the general public to confirm the authenticity of any recruitment notice before responding to it.
It reiterated that only updates released through its official channels should be considered genuine, urging Nigerians not to rely on unverified posts shared on social media.
The agency stated: “Members of the public are advised to disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through the official communication channels of the Nigeria Customs Service.”

To help Nigerians identify authentic information, the NCS highlighted its verified online platforms.
These include its official Facebook page, Nigeria Customs Service, as well as its verified Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Threads and TikTok accounts under the handle @customsng.
The Service concluded its advisory with a reminder for citizens to remain alert and responsible when consuming information online, urging them to “Stay vigilant. Verify information before sharing.”
