Coordinated Success in Counterterrorism Operation: Air Strikes and Ground Troops Combine Forces

On January 30, 2024, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji, working in conjunction with the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, achieved a significant victory by eliminating numerous terrorists and obliterating their hideouts in Katsina State.

The coordinated joint operation, led by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Army, specifically targeted the enclave on Tora Hills in Safana local government area (LGA) of Katsina State.

Statement from NAF Director: Air Strikes Degrade Terrorist Capabilities

The Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, provided details of the operation in a statement.

He revealed that NAF aircraft initiated the assault on the location, significantly degrading the terrorists’ capabilities. Subsequent to the air strikes, ground troops from the 17 Brigade successfully conducted a clearance operation, eliminating fleeing terrorists.

Battle Damage Assessment Confirms Success: Hill Liberated from Terrorist Influence

Footages from the Battle Damage Assessment affirmed the success of the air strikes in diminishing the terrorists’ capabilities.

The coordinated operation not only resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists but also facilitated the destruction of their hideouts on Tora Hills.

This success allowed the ground troops the opportunity to ascend and clear Tsora Hill, previously serving as a strategic hiding place for terrorists in Safana LGA of Katsina State, located in the North-West region of Nigeria.

Strategic Impact: Clearing Tsora Hill Strengthens Counterterrorism Efforts

Air Vice Marshal Gabkwet emphasized that the joint operation not only eliminated threats posed by terrorists in the specified location but also allowed ground troops to successfully clear Tsora Hill.

This hill had previously served as a crucial hiding place for terrorists in Safana LGA. The strategic impact of this success enhances the overall effectiveness of counterterrorism efforts in the region.
