Katie Tradie, a 29-year-old retail assistant from Swansea, along with her husband Adam, a 34-year-old plumber, took their three children – Gethin (six), Roux (three), and Torvi (11 weeks) – to the In It Together Festival in Margam, Wales.

Despite the backlash, Katie and Adam firmly believe in the positive experience of attending festivals as a family.

The Joy of Festival Camping:

Having previously attended festivals as a family, Katie and Adam have noticed their children’s love for the experience.

The family enjoys camping together in a teepee and spending their days watching music acts and engaging in activities such as painting and coloring specifically designed for children.

Katie explains, “We are massive music lovers, and so are the kids – they love camping.

We only take the children to family-friendly festivals that have the perfect mix of kids and adult stuff.”

Preparing for Festivals with Kids:

To ensure a smooth festival experience for their children, Katie suggests bringing a variety of activities to keep them entertained.

She advises, “We take lots of coloring books with us and bubbles for the kids to run around with.

We always take a little wagon too – they are fabulous as you can pull the children along in them.

You can decorate it with fairy lights so that when we are pulling them around at night, other people can see you.”

Additionally, Katie emphasizes the importance of being prepared for any unexpected situations by packing a comprehensive medical kit.

Breaking Stereotypes and Encouraging Family Fun:

Katie acknowledges that many parents may not understand or realize that it is possible to take children to festivals.

The Importance of Family Bonding:

For Katie, attending festivals as a family is a non-negotiable.

She shares, “We always spend the whole festival as a family and never split up.”
