Chidimma Adetshina, who recently made headlines as a Miss Universe 2024 runner-up, has decided to step away from the world of pageantry to prioritize her education and personal growth.

After competing at the global level and receiving widespread admiration, the Nigerian beauty queen revealed her plans to focus on what truly matters to her next.

Stepping Away from Pageantry

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Chidimma explained her decision to step back from the pageant scene, saying, “I’m putting pageantry to bed. I’m going to focus more on my education and establishing who Chidimma is.”

She emphasized her desire to explore other opportunities in fashion, including runway shows, and to push the boundaries of her potential.

With this shift, she also plans to take time for her mental health, recognizing the importance of self-care in her journey.

“I’m glad it’s all done so I can focus on myself and my mental health,” she added, expressing gratitude for the chance to recharge and reflect.

The Challenges of the Journey

Reflecting on her experience, Chidimma described the challenges she faced throughout her pageant journey.

While she was grateful for the tremendous support she received from Nigeria and across Africa, the path wasn’t without its struggles.

“This journey has been so hard, and I don’t think a lot of people understood what I went through,” she shared.

Although she wanted to open up more about her experience, she made sure to be mindful of her words to avoid causing offense.

Despite the difficulties, she noted how proud she was to have made it to such a prestigious stage, where she felt truly supported.

“Getting to that stage, I was so proud, knowing I had such a tremendous amount of support, not only from Nigeria but from Africa,” she said, expressing how overwhelming and heartwarming the love from her fans felt.

Though Chidimma is widely believed to have lived in Soweto, Gauteng, a controversy around her residence recently sparked doubts.

Despite the issue, she remains focused on the next chapter of her life and career.

With her decision to step away from pageantry, it seems that her future holds exciting new possibilities beyond the pageant stage.
