Comedian Miranda Hart has been murdered on The Celebrity Traitors after Traitors Maya Jama, James Acaster and King Kenny decided she was getting too close to uncovering their identities.
The 53-year-old discovered her fate during Friday’s episode when she read the murder letter delivered by the show’s Traitors.
Reacting to the news, Hart exclaimed: “No! Absolutely not. Oh bottoms. I knew it. I’m so cross with myself.”
Her departure followed the murder of fellow Faithful Ross Kemp, who was eliminated during Thursday’s episode in the Traitors’ first murder carried out in plain sight.
Hart Reflects on Her Return to Work and Personal Life
Following her elimination, Hart reflected on her personal journey and the opportunity to return to the professional and personal activities she enjoys.
“Ultimately, in my little personal story, this has been quite extraordinary that I have been able to get back and do the thing that I love professionally and do the things that I love personally, like wandering around the Scottish Highlands and being in nature and laughing and connecting,” she said.
“There were times that I didn’t think that would be possible again.”
BBC Accused of Revealing Hart’s Fate in Editing Blunder
Hart’s departure came amid accusations that the BBC had inadvertently revealed the outcome at the end of Thursday’s episode.
The instalment concluded with the Traitors considering Hart, Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian “Bash” Croft as potential targets.
However, viewers noticed that King Kenny, 29, appeared to begin writing Hart’s name on a scroll while sitting in the turret with Jama and Acaster. The camera then cut away.
The moment prompted complaints from viewers who believed the editing had revealed the identity of the next victim before Friday’s broadcast.
One viewer wrote: “Well done, you literally had one job producers, and you’ve ruined it.”
Field of Screams Challenge Adds £13,500 to Charity Fund
Friday’s episode also featured a challenge called the “field of screams”, in which scarecrows bearing the contestants’ names were positioned beside pitchforks.
The celebrities worked in pairs, with one person collecting bags of gold worth £500 each while their partner placed them on the pitchforks to add money to the prize fund.
If three bags were placed on a single pitchfork, the corresponding scarecrow exploded, eliminating that contestant from contention for a secret power.
The challenge ended with the group selecting Jama, Acaster and King Kenny as the three contestants they trusted most, despite all three being Traitors.
King Kenny subsequently received a dagger granting him a double vote.
The celebrities added £13,500 to the charity prize fund, bringing the total to £59,500.
Ross Kemp’s Murder in Plain Sight Shocks the Contestants
Hart’s elimination followed the death of actor Ross Kemp, whose growing suspicions and paranoia had become a talking point earlier in the series.
Kemp had previously accused Bella Ramsey and Leigh-Anne Pinnock of murdering him in plain sight, before becoming the victim of that very tactic himself.
During Thursday’s episode, Acaster used the show’s fictional “deadly sleeping powder” to carry out the murder while Kemp was present.
As Kemp yawned, Acaster said: “Sorry Ross, am I boring you?”
The moment confirmed Kemp’s elimination and marked the first murder in plain sight during the series.
Traitors’ Mission Sparks Tension Between Jama, King Kenny and Acaster
Tensions also emerged among the three Traitors during a separate challenge involving shield puzzles.
The contestants were required to move pieces of the puzzles around a room while the other participants remained blindfolded. Jama and King Kenny removed their blindfolds to complete the task, but Acaster remained hidden and told the camera he was too scared to help.
The decision frustrated Jama and King Kenny, who could not openly confront him in front of the Faithful contestants.
Later, in the turret, the pair challenged Acaster over his lack of involvement.
Jama told him: “You did leave us out to dry.”
Acaster responded by admitting that he had enjoyed carrying out Kemp’s murder in plain sight.
“When I killed Ross Kemp in plain sight, I loved it. And I have enjoyed today more,” he said.
His admission appeared to improve the mood, with Jama replying: “Yay! James, I’m so proud of you.”
Viewers Predict Acaster Could Become the Next Traitor Target
Acaster’s performance during the mission prompted speculation among viewers that Jama and King Kenny could eventually turn against him.
Some viewers argued on social media that the comedian had failed to demonstrate sufficient loyalty, while others defended his decision to remain blindfolded.
Comments included calls for the pair to “throw James under the bus” and predictions that he could become the next Traitor to be eliminated.
Other viewers supported his decision, suggesting that remaining still during the challenge had been a sensible way to avoid drawing attention to himself.
The disagreement has added another layer of uncertainty to the competition as the remaining celebrities continue trying to identify the Traitors.
