Massive Emergency Services Operation at Welsh Beach: One Person Hospitalized

On Saturday, July 29, a significant emergency services operation took place at Newgale Beach, situated on the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales, approximately 10 miles away from Haverfordwest.

The Welsh Ambulance Service was alerted to a “medical emergency” at this location shortly before 9 am.

Various agencies swiftly responded to the distress call, including the Wales Air Ambulance Helicopter, HM Coastguard teams, RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) crews, paramedics, and the police.

Additionally, support was provided by a helicopter from the Irish Coast Guard.

The Incident and Response Efforts

The initial call to HM Coastguard reported an incident involving individuals experiencing difficulties in the water at Newgale Beach.

As a result, multiple rescue teams were deployed, including the Broad Haven and St Davids Coastguard Rescue Team, RNLI lifeboats from Littlehaven and St Davids, and RNLI Newgale North Beach lifeguards.

The Welsh Ambulance Service also joined the efforts to provide medical assistance.

Confirmation of Casualty and Medical Response

Following the operation, the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that one person had been taken to the hospital.

The spokeswoman from HM Coastguard outlined the coordination of the response, with the Irish Coast Guard’s helicopter being dispatched as it was closest to the area at the time of the incident.

They reported receiving the call at 8:52 am and dispatching one emergency ambulance and one Cymru High Acuity Response Unit to the scene.

The Wales Air Ambulance also offered crucial support during the operation.

Ultimately, the injured individual was transported by road to Glangwilli Hospital for further medical attention.
