Manchester United Deep in Talks with Lazio Over £40 Million Greenwood Deal After Impressive Loan Spell in Spain

Manchester United are currently engaged in negotiations with Lazio, exploring a potential deal valued at up to £40 million for Mason Greenwood.

The young English forward, who showcased his skills during a loan stint at Getafe last season, has attracted significant interest from the Rome-based club.

Reports from Mail Sport indicate that talks between United and Lazio have progressed well.

Lazio, who were interested in Greenwood last summer as well, have reignited their pursuit after witnessing his impressive performance of eight goals and six assists while on loan at Getafe.

The discussions involve a potential permanent transfer, although there’s also consideration for a loan arrangement with an obligation for Lazio to purchase Greenwood for approximately £30 million, potentially rising to £40 million with additional clauses.

Aside from Lazio, Juventus and Napoli in Serie A, as well as several clubs across Germany and Spain, have also shown interest in Greenwood.

This interest follows United’s decision that the 22-year-old forward has no future at Old Trafford, despite legal issues being resolved last year.

Manchester United’s Transfer Strategy

In addition to Greenwood, United have set a £40 million price tag on Jadon Sancho, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The club is open to offers for most players this summer, including exploring potential sales and loan deals to manage their squad and adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations.

Other Transfer Rumors

United are also looking to offload high-earning players like Casemiro, with interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, and considering offers for Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Turkish clubs Fenerbahce and Galatasaray respectively.

Future Plans

While United aim to retain key players like Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, they remain open to significant offers that could prompt reconsideration.

Pre-season preparations are imminent for non-international players, highlighting the club’s proactive approach to squad management this summer.
