An inmate was found dead by Corrections staff at one of the largest prisons on Saturday morning.
The death of a man in custody at Spring Hill Corrections Facility in Waikato is under investigation, but Scott Walker, the prison’s director, says there is no indication the death is suspicious.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends. Other men in the unit and staff are being provided with support,” Walker said.
Police attended the facility and according to a spokesperson, have notified the man’s next of kin.
