Amakhosi do not appear to be interested in SuperSport United star midfielder Sipho Mbule at the moment.
Mbule’s agent, Mike Makaab, believes Chiefs fans should give up hope of seeing the midfielder join Naturena anytime soon.
Makaab told an ardent Chiefs supporter (Sgadi28) that the Soweto giants have no interest in signing Mbule.
“I honestly believe so (that Chiefs fans should give up); the club has no actual interest in the player,” Makaab stated.
MBULE, SUNDOWNS AND SUPERSPORT UNITED IN TALKS?
In February, Makaab confirmed that talks were ongoing regarding Mbule’s future, and while he wasn’t specific in his references, it was clear that Sundowns were still the one club pushing to have the 23-year-old on their books.
At the start of 2022, Mbule hogged the headlines after SuperSport United denied him a move to a club of his choice despite huge interest in his services.
Sundowns were confirmed to be the only team that had tabled an offer for Mbule while Chiefs only inquired about the player’s availability.
Now, with Chiefs seemingly pulling out of the race, this puts Sundowns in pole position to land Mbule at the end of the season provided the player is keen.
Mbule’s current deal with SuperSport United expires in June but his employers have an option to renew it for a further year; the option they should trigger before the end of May.
Should SuperSport United fail to take up that option by the end of May, Mbule would consider himself a free agent at the end of the current season.
And perhaps that would reignite Amakhosi’s interest because one of the reasons they didn’t sign Mbule in January was his high price tag.
