Former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson has arrived in Australia ahead of the latest leg of his How Did We Get Here? World Tour.

The 34-year-old musician landed at Melbourne Airport on Monday as he prepared for a series of solo concerts across the country.

Tomlinson appeared to be trying to avoid attention, wearing sunglasses and an Adidas hoodie with the hood pulled over his head. He also wore black sweatpants and sneakers, completing the look with a backpack.

Despite his efforts to keep a low profile, the singer was accompanied by several large security guards who guided him through the airport, waved away waiting fans and escorted him to a waiting car.

Tomlinson kept his head down as he walked and occasionally pulled his hood further across his face to avoid being recognised.

Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane Dates Confirmed

The singer will begin his Australian tour at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on Tuesday night.

He is then scheduled to perform at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday before travelling to Brisbane for a concert at Riverstage on Saturday.

Tomlinson last visited Australia in 2024 during his Faith in the Future world tour.

His latest run of international performances has also included a concert in Paris in April, where he was joined by his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan.

Niall Horan’s Appearance at Paris Concert Delighted Fans

Tomlinson confirmed Horan’s presence at the Accor Arena during the Paris show, prompting an enthusiastic response from the audience.

The singer said it meant a lot to him that Horan had attended the performance to show his support.

The appearance brought the former bandmates together as Tomlinson continued his solo career following their time in One Direction.

Why Tomlinson Disliked Performing One Direction’s Biggest Hit

Although Tomlinson rose to international fame as a member of One Direction, he has previously admitted that he did not enjoy performing the group’s hit song What Makes You Beautiful.

The track helped propel the British boy band to global stardom in 2011, but Tomlinson told BBC Radio 2 that he found the song too heavily focused on bubblegum pop.

“Two reasons on that, it’s definitely our most pop and most bubble gum pop moment,” he said.

Tomlinson explained that his feelings about performing the song were influenced by his age and the public perception of boy bands when One Direction first emerged.

“Performing that always felt so eggy,” he said, recalling that he was 18 at the time and that being in a boy band was not initially considered particularly cool.

He said the group’s popularity eventually changed that perception, but singing the song’s romantic lyrics still felt corny to him.

Tomlinson compared the lyrics to something that would not have been out of place in a Disney film.

Story of My Life Remains His Favourite One Direction Song

During the same interview, Tomlinson named Story of My Life as his favourite song from One Direction’s catalogue.

“It is probably Story Of My Life. I think that was a real moment,” he said.

He explained that the song stood out because it was different from what audiences might have expected from the group.

“That’s not the kind of record you expect from a band like One Direction, and I think that was kind of a turning point for us,” Tomlinson added.

His comments offer a glimpse into the songs that shaped his experience in the band as he continues performing solo for audiences around the world.
