Parents of Leah Sharibu Express Concerns Over Daughter’s Alleged New Marital Status
The parents of Leah Sharibu, the young girl who was abducted by Boko Haram terrorists over five years ago, have spoken out regarding recent rumors surrounding their daughter’s marital status.
They find the news of her alleged divorce from an ISWAP commander and subsequent remarriage disheartening and confusing.
Leah Sharibu’s Tragic Story
Leah Sharibu was among the 110 female students of the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College in Dapchi, Yobe State, who were abducted on February 19, 2018, by Boko Haram terrorists.
While some of her fellow students were released following negotiations, Leah, then 14 years old, remains in captivity because she steadfastly refused to renounce her Christian faith.

Recent speculations emerged, claiming that Leah Sharibu, held by members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), had “remarried” another terrorist commander, Ali Abdallah, in the Lake Chad area, supposedly after securing a divorce from her initial ‘husband’ imposed upon her.

Dr. Gloria Puldu, spokesperson for Leah’s parents and President of the Leah Foundation, issued a statement expressing the family’s concerns.
Puldu emphasized that the news about Leah’s alleged divorce and remarriage was disheartening and raised questions about the credibility of such claims.

Puldu questioned the reliability of the information, particularly given the absence of concrete evidence, such as pictures, audio, or video, to support these claims.
