LAGOS HEALTH DISTRICT III APPEALS TO TRADITIONAL RULERS FOR SUPPORT FOR BETTER HEALTHCARE

Visits Traditional Rulers in Elegushi, Epe, Ajiran, and Other Places
Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, the permanent secretary of Lagos State Health District III, has asked the traditional leaders in the district, which includes Eti-Osa, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, and surrounding areas, for help in providing high-quality healthcare to locals, particularly those who live in the hinterlands and riverine communities.

She made the appeal during separate visits to the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Elegushi; the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Gbolahan Lawal; the Ojomu of Ajiranland, Oba Tijani Adetunji Akinloye; the Onibeju of Ibeju Kingdom, Oba Waliu Rasaq and the Oloja of Epe Kingdom, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun.
Dr. Adeleke used the occasion of his visit to the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom—which fell during the celebration of this year’s Ejiwa Elegba Festival—to discuss strategies for enhancing primary health in Ikate Kingdom and Health District III as a whole.

While visiting the Oniru palace, the Permanent Secretary expressed his gratitude to the traditional ruler for taking on the upgrade of Oniru PHC and expressed hope that, with the help and influence of all the traditional rulers in the District, the task of providing healthcare to the unreached areas would be simple because of the people’s cooperation.

Adeleke also expressed her gratitude to the Ojomu of Ajiranland for launching a forward-thinking partnership with Total Energies and Chevron that resulted in the development of the upcoming Ajiran Primary Health Centre. She said that the traditional leader made it possible for the fusion of medical innovation and cultural heritage for Ajiran town.

She said, “I’m confident that we will considerably and positively influence the health of our population with the assistance and influence of our traditional rulers.
The Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki LCDA, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, and the Onibeju of Ibeju Kingdom, Oba Waliu Rasaq, welcomed Dr. Adeleke during the Permanent Secretary’s visit to the Ibeju Kingdom. The Onibeju and Hon. Olowa both expressed their unwavering support for the mission to improve primary healthcare services in the local communities.

Along with other hospitals in Ibeju-Lekki and the surrounding area, the Executive Chairman of the Council’s recently renovated Ayeteju Primary Health Centre was also visited by the Permanent Secretary.
Dr. Adeleke was particularly grateful to Oba Animashaun while she was in Epe for his unwavering support of an enhanced community-based Primary Healthcare Center (PHC) inside his domain and for lending a helping hand to improve the center’s services.

Through the assistance of Oba Animashaun in Epe, Dr. Adeleke recognized the commitment shown by the personnel of the recently renovated PHC, noting that the health officers were carrying out their duties of providing essential medical services in an undoubtedly inspiring way.
According to her, “The unwavering commitment of the health officers at this facility and this gesture of the Military through our Royal Father, refurbishing this particular PHC, underscores the critical importance of having a robust healthcare infrastructure for the prosperity of the community, which is in tandem with Mr. Governor’s Greater Lagos Rising Vision.

“In essence, my main goal in making these visits was to encourage a sense of community participation and inclusivity in order to win the support of all Traditional Rulers. The Permanent Secretary asserted, “I am confident in our abilities to produce a big and beneficial influence on the health and well-being of our population with the unanimous support of community leaders across various disciplines.
