Palestinian migrant Abu Wadee has been removed from the Home Office-arranged accommodation where he had been staying in Corby, Northamptonshire, following renewed scrutiny over his background and previous statements about Jews.
The 34-year-old, also known as Mosab Abdulkarim Al-Gassas, arrived in Britain by small boat in March 2025 and was later jailed for an immigration offence. Recent reports said he had been living in shared asylum accommodation in Corby after his release from prison.
Police Watch As Migrant Leaves Property
Wadee was seen leaving the property on Wednesday accompanied by a taxi, while two Northamptonshire Police officers were present.
A man who identified himself as a housing officer was also seen handling luggage before the vehicle departed. Reports said Wadee was wearing a hooded jacket, cap and sunglasses and had an electronic ankle tag visible.
The move came only days after his presence in Corby became public and prompted calls from local politicians and campaign groups for authorities to take action.
Home Office Reportedly Seeking His Removal
The Home Office is understood to be pursuing Wadee’s removal from Britain, although the precise legal status and timetable of any deportation process have not been publicly detailed.
The Government has said that foreign nationals who receive prison sentences in Britain are referred for deportation at the earliest opportunity and barred from returning when deported. Officials have also reported that more than 11,000 foreign offenders have been returned or deported during the two years following the last election.
Previous Statements Triggered Security Concerns
Wadee came under scrutiny after material from his social-media accounts emerged showing him making statements advocating violence against Jews.
Campaign Against Antisemitism has said it reviewed Arabic-language material attributed to him, including a 2024 video containing calls for Jews to be killed. Reports have also highlighted photographs and videos appearing to show Wadee with firearms and material linked to militant activity.
He has also been reported as having previously been associated with Gaza’s so-called “Tyre-Burning Unit”, which campaigners and media reports have described as Hamas-linked.
Wadee Says He No Longer Supports Hamas
Wadee has rejected his former political position, telling the Northamptonshire Telegraph that he no longer supports Hamas.
He said his previous views were expressed while he was living in Gaza under Hamas rule and claimed people there could face consequences for speaking against the organisation. He also said he now has Jewish friends and wants to remain in Britain.
His comments represent his own account of his past affiliations and statements, while authorities continue to consider his immigration and security circumstances.
Local Reaction Intensifies
The discovery that Wadee had been living in Corby prompted reactions from residents and politicians.
Labour MP Lee Barron, who represents Corby and East Northamptonshire, said he was seeking Wadee’s immediate deportation and planned to raise the matter with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood.
Campaign Against Antisemitism has likewise criticised the authorities’ handling of the case and argued that action should have been taken sooner.
Questions Over His Immigration Status
Wadee previously served a prison sentence after entering Britain without permission. Following his release, he was placed in accommodation under the asylum dispersal system while his wider immigration circumstances remained unresolved.
The case has consequently renewed debate over how the UK handles foreign nationals who have criminal convictions while their immigration or asylum claims are being processed.

Wadee’s departure from the Corby property does not by itself establish that he has been deported from Britain.
Recent reporting indicates that the Home Office is seeking to remove him from the country, while separate reports have noted complications surrounding any return to Gaza because of the ongoing security situation there.
