Kia bakkie stolen in a hijacking after passenger was shot dead recovered by Reaction Officers in Canelands – KZN

Reaction Officers found a Kia bakkie that was hijacked in a hijacking after the passenger was shot dead off Vincent Dickenson Road in Canelands, KZN, on Sunday morning.

Sphiwe Nyoka, 36, was a passenger in the bakkie. He and a buddy were on their way back from a funeral in Cottonlands, KZN, when they were boxed in by a white GWM bakkie at the Hazelmere/Mhlasini fork in Canelands, KZN. Shortly after, Nyoka was shot in the head, and the driver was ordered to exit the vehicle. He passed away on the spot. His death was announced to his family.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) officers on the scene began searching for the murder suspects. At around 00:07 a.m., Reaction Officers patrolling the area noticed a Kia bakkie on fire off Vincent Dickenson Road in Canelands (Sunday).
The fire was doused with assistance from the owner who arrived shortly thereafter.
