In a recent twist, Cape Town Spurs’ head honcho Alexi Efstathiou found himself in the spotlight after alleging that Kaizer Chiefs had made an unethical approach towards Asanele Velebayi’s parents, potentially luring the winger to Naturena.
Clearing the Air
The accusation quickly caught fire on social media, with many criticizing the Chiefs for their supposed lack of professionalism.
However, Kaizer Motaung Junior, the Sporting Director for Kaizer Chiefs, has stepped in to set the record straight.
According to Motaung Junior, the club adhered to proper procedures in their interest in Velebayi.
He even revealed that Alexi Efstathiou reached out to apologize for the misunderstanding.
“I want to clarify that we’ve never spoken to the player or his parents,” Motaung Junior stated, as reported by IDiski Times.
“We pride ourselves on professionalism and engaging in the right way.”

Itumeleng Khune’s Future: What’s Next?
In other news, Kaizer Chiefs’ marketing director Jessica Motaung has shed light on Itumeleng Khune’s future.
The iconic Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, a one-club man since joining Chiefs in 2004 and winner of 12 trophies, seems to be on the verge of retirement from active play.
Despite Khune’s belief that he has a few years left in him, the club is contemplating a different role for him.
“Khune has been an integral part of the Kaizer Chiefs family, and we value him immensely,” Jessica Motaung told Radio 2000, as reported by IDiski Times.
“We’re exploring new roles for him, possibly something akin to ambassadorial positions that other clubs have adopted for retired players.
We’re excited about the discussions and eager to find a meaningful role for him within the Kaizer Chiefs organization.”
