Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a major shake-up in their midfield before the new season starts.
The club is actively looking to offload two of their senior central midfielders if they can find suitable options.
Sabelo Radebe’s Loan Move
In an effort to help 24-year-old midfielder Sabelo Radebe gain valuable first-team experience, Kaizer Chiefs are planning to loan him out.
Despite joining the senior squad in 2021 from the youth team, Radebe has struggled to make a significant impact, managing only 18 appearances in the team’s black and gold jersey.
According to SABC Sport, the Chiefs have put out feelers to various clubs to secure Radebe a loan move for the upcoming season.
It’s clear that Radebe may not feature prominently in coach Nasreddine Nabi’s plans for the next campaign, so the team is keen to find him a new club.
Sibongiseni ‘Ox’ Mthethwa’s Uncertain Future
Midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa is also facing an uncertain future at Kaizer Chiefs.
According to iDiskiTimes, Coach Nasreddine Nabi does not see a long-term role for Mthethwa at the club.
Despite his impressive defensive stats for the 2023-2024 season—55 completed tackles from 18 league appearances—Mthethwa has struggled to make a significant impact in key moments.
Reports suggest that Mthethwa has been offered to Stellenbosch FC and AmaZulu FC on loan.
However, both clubs are reportedly not interested at this time.
The Cape Winelands side is said to have turned down a season-long loan offer, and talks with AmaZulu FC have yet to reach an agreement.
A Disappointing Season and What Lies Ahead
Kaizer Chiefs ended the 2023-2024 season in a disappointing tenth place, marking their worst finish in the history of the DStv Premiership.
Their last league title was back in 2015, and they have been on the lookout for major silverware since then.
With these changes in the pipeline, it remains to be seen how the new season will unfold for the Chiefs and whether these adjustments will help them return to their winning ways.
