A Silent Stance on Kaizer Chiefs: Mosimane’s Coaching Future
Amid speculation about his potential move to Kaizer Chiefs, former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that while offers are on the table, none have come from local clubs.
The coach, a serial winner with a decorated history, is currently without a club after parting ways with UAE’s Al Wahda.
Despite being linked with the Chiefs coaching position following Molefi Ntseki’s departure last month, Mosimane has chosen not to address the rumors surrounding the prominent South African club.
Offers from Unlikely Quarters: North America and Asia Beckon
In a recent interview with the South African Football Journalists Association, Mosimane disclosed that offers have emerged from North Africa and Asia.
Contrary to expectations, the interest does not hail from the Gulf region.
Mosimane expressed a willingness to explore coaching opportunities in North America, Japan, and China, emphasizing the importance of legacy in his decision-making process.
Legacy and Exploration: Mosimane’s Openness to New Frontiers
Mosimane reflected on the potential projects in different regions, stating, “If you can get a project that’s interesting in the Gulf, just for example, and a similar project in Asia, probably I would go to Asia, just to go see.”
The coach hinted at ongoing conversations in Europe, particularly in Eastern Europe, expanding the scope of possibilities beyond the traditional football powerhouses like France, England, and Italy.
Silence on Local Front: No Immediate Plans for DStv Premiership Return
While acknowledging the possibility of interest from DStv Premiership sides and national teams, Mosimane asserted that, as of now, there have been no concrete offers from local clubs.
With the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January, he hinted that any potential return to coaching in Africa might be considered post-January, aligning with the continuation of World Cup qualifiers.
Chiefs’ Pursuit and Brian Baloyi’s Prediction
The ongoing links with Kaizer Chiefs, who have appointed Cavin Johnson as an interim coach, coincide with former goalkeeper Brian Baloyi’s prediction that his ex-club might make a significant offer for Mosimane’s services.
