Bail Granted to Nigerian Singer Naira Marley and Manager Sam Larry

Release from Detention

Nigerian singer Naira Marley and his manager, Sam Larry, have been released on bail by a Lagos magistrate court following weeks of detention.

Bail Conditions

They were granted bail under the condition of two sureties, each posting N20 million, and are required to submit their international passports. Additionally, they must report to the state CID every Tuesday.

Warning from the Magistrate

Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun issued a stern warning, stating that anyone who attempts to contact her will have their conversation recorded and played live in the open court.

Arrest and Detention

Marley and Larry were initially arrested on October 4, 2023, due to their alleged involvement in the death of their signee, Mohbad. Subsequently, they were held in custody for 21 days, and their detention was extended multiple times.

Legal Argument and Bail

Their legal team successfully argued that their detention had exceeded the constitutional maximum of 30 days without trial, leading to the grant of bail.

Upcoming Court Appearance

Naira Marley and Sam Larry are scheduled to make their next appearance in court on November 21, 2023.
