Podcaster Joe Rogan recently shared some surprising reactions following his endorsement of Donald Trump for president.
According to Rogan, a wide range of individuals, particularly from creative circles, reached out to thank him privately for speaking out in favor of Trump.
This support came from unexpected corners, including artists, musicians, and comedians.
Creative Individuals Speak Out
Rogan explained that many people in the entertainment industry, particularly those who are often associated with more liberal or progressive movements, felt compelled to stay silent about their own political beliefs.
They appreciated his public stance because it allowed them to express support for Trump without fear of backlash.
Rogan revealed that these individuals, who he described as “hippies,” often shared their gratitude with him in private, expressing their concerns about the country’s direction.
“I’ve had so many artists, musicians, comedians reach out to me, and they’re like, ‘I can’t say it, but I really appreciate you doing it,’” Rogan said.
These people, he claimed, were hesitant to openly support Trump because they feared being attacked or ostracized by their peers.
The Dangers of Censorship and Control
Rogan also touched on broader political concerns, emphasizing the dangers of censorship and government control over social media.
He credited Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter for preventing what Rogan saw as a troubling trend toward government control of online platforms.
Rogan argued that the media’s increasing one-sidedness, whether it’s dominated by right-wing or left-wing perspectives, poses a threat to free speech.
In his conversation with civil rights attorney Josh Dubin, Rogan argued that the U.S. was headed down a dangerous path, one where people were being silenced for expressing unpopular opinions.
He compared this to situations in the UK, where individuals had been jailed for their social media posts.
Trump’s Free Speech Stance
Rogan expressed support for Trump’s position on free speech, noting that Trump had made it a key part of his platform.
He argued that the growing censorship of information was a serious issue that needed to be addressed.
For Rogan, promoting free speech should be a fundamental principle, not a revolutionary one.
“That shouldn’t be as revolutionary as it is,” Rogan said. “It’s essentially the First Amendment.”
Hollywood’s Mixed Political Landscape
While Rogan’s endorsement of Trump attracted a certain level of support, the political scene in Hollywood had been dominated by figures who supported Vice President Kamala Harris.
Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé publicly backed Harris, even joining her on stage during campaign events.
However, there have been rumors that some A-list stars were paid large sums to support Harris—claims which Winfrey and others have denied.
Despite these rumors, there is no official record of payments to celebrities such as Megan Thee Stallion from the Harris campaign.
Rogan’s comments highlight a growing tension in the entertainment industry, where expressing political views, especially those that diverge from the mainstream, can be a risky endeavor.
