The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it has carried out a series of operations across the Gaza Strip targeting Hamas commanders and infrastructure, including the killing of several militants and the destruction of underground tunnel routes.
According to statements released by the military, the operations were conducted in multiple areas of Gaza as part of Israel’s ongoing campaign against Hamas.
The claims were made by the IDF and have not been independently verified.
Four Hamas commanders reported killed in northern Gaza
The Israeli military said four commanders from the Beit Lahia Battalion of Hamas’ military wing were killed in the Al-Shati area of Gaza.
The IDF alleged that the individuals had been involved in planning and advancing attacks against Israeli forces operating in the territory.
Israeli officials further claimed that one of the commanders had crossed into Israel during the October 7, 2023, attack carried out by Hamas militants.
The military described the operation as part of its broader effort to target Hamas leadership and operational personnel.
Additional commanders targeted in central and eastern Gaza
In a separate announcement, the IDF reported striking a Hamas commander in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza.
According to the military, the commander had participated in the October 7 attack inside Israel.
The IDF also said it targeted another Hamas commander in the Tuffah neighborhood, alleging that the individual had been involved in planning attacks against Israeli troops deployed in Gaza.
No additional details regarding casualties or the circumstances of the strikes were immediately released.
Tunnel network remains a major focus
Alongside operations targeting Hamas personnel, the Israeli military said it continued efforts to dismantle the group’s underground infrastructure.
The IDF reported that two tunnel routes with a combined length exceeding two kilometers were sealed during recent operations.
Israeli officials have repeatedly identified Hamas’ tunnel system as a key component of the group’s military capabilities, arguing that the network is used to move fighters, store weapons and facilitate attacks.
Ongoing campaign in Gaza
The latest announcements highlight Israel’s continued focus on targeting both Hamas leadership and the infrastructure it says supports the group’s operations.
Since the outbreak of the war following the October 7 attack, Israeli forces have conducted extensive military operations throughout Gaza aimed at weakening Hamas’ command structure and reducing its ability to carry out attacks.
The military said the recent strikes and tunnel-sealing operations form part of that broader campaign, which remains ongoing across several areas of the enclave.
