The Israeli military has announced the killing of Muhammad Na’im Jandiya, identifying him as the head of military security for Hamas’ Shuja’iyya Battalion.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the operation eliminated a senior figure it says played multiple roles within Hamas before and during the ongoing conflict.
IDF Links Jandiya to October 7 Attack
In its statement, the IDF alleged that Jandiya commanded a Nukhba terrorist cell during the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.
The military said the unit under his command infiltrated Kibbutz Nahal Oz, where it claimed Jandiya participated in the abduction of the late Captain Daniel Perez during the assault.
Accused of Overseeing Hostages in Underground Tunnel
The IDF further alleged that Jandiya was involved in the captivity of several Israeli hostages during the war.
According to the military, he was responsible for holding Yotam Chaim, Samer Al-Talalka, and Alon Shamriz inside an underground tunnel operated by Hamas’ Shuja’iyya Battalion in Gaza.
Israeli Military Highlights Operation
The announcement forms part of Israel’s ongoing campaign against Hamas leadership and operatives in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF did not immediately provide additional operational details about when or where Jandiya was killed. Hamas had not publicly commented on the Israeli claims at the time of the announcement, and the allegations regarding Jandiya’s activities could not be independently verified.
