Heroic police officer killed after being struck by a train while attempting to save a man in trouble on the tracks.Around 7 o’clock on Thursday, Nottinghamshire Police were called to a residential area in Balderton, close to Newark, due to concerns for a man’s safety.Sgt. Graham Saville, 46, was struck by the approaching train while attempting to assist the man.

The force announced tonight that the serving officer passed away today at Queen’s Medical Center with his family by his bedside.Flags will now be flying at half-mast throughout the army as a sign of respect.The officer’s victim, who had been electrocuted but had not suffered life-threatening injuries, was also rushed to the hospital.The entire police family is in sorrow today, according to Chief Constable Kate Meynell.Graham was a well regarded and well-liked colleague, therefore the news of his death while performing official duties shocked us all deeply.His family has our sincere condolences and our hearts, and we will do all in our power to help them get through this incredibly difficult time.
