In the Netflix documentary Heart of Invictus, Harry and Meghan’s trusted advisor James Holt moderates a moving round table conversation.

Before becoming executive director of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation in March 2021, Mr. Holt served as the couple’s UK spokesman. The five-part Heart of Invictus, which came out this morning, features brief cameos from him.Group therapy is the topic of conversation in the fourth episode, which takes place in The Hague, the Netherlands, just before the Invictus Games competition took place last year. After the competition was put on hold by Covid, he addressed Harry and Meghan and the other organizers, stating, “After a couple of years of delays, we are actually finally here.”In response to Mr. Holt’s warning that the upcoming weeks will be “tense” and “tough,” Harry says that participating in the games is like “group therapy” for everyone.

In the sixth episode, titled “Where the Light Enters,” Holt appears twice more. The first shows Harry holding a copy of his speech that has been heavily marked up. He makes the joke, “How not to give a speech,” to his wife and Mr. Holt.Well, at least you can read your writing,” the PR guy retorts. Then, Harry needs his assistance pronouncing the name of Onno Eichelsheim, the Dutch defense minister.Mr. Holt needs to use his phone to seek up how to properly pronounce it.Mr. Holt later presents the Prince with a wooden plaque bearing his likeness and the words “Gift from Team Canada.”

In the fourth episode, Harry says, “After so many delays because of the global pandemic, with all the craziness that is happening in the world, what is happening in Ukraine, to be here now in the games with all the people that have been patiently waiting since 2020, it is a relief to be honest.”We never thought it would happen, and the experience has been extremely up and down for everyone involved.’It’s going to be weary, it’s going to be stressful, it’s going to be tough,’ Mr. Holt continues.Harry concludes his rousing speech by saying, “The vast majority of people who have made it to the Invictus games, the vast majority of these individuals who are alive today is because of their support network, is because of their family, is because of their friends.”

Group treatment for all participants is taking place this week at the games. And that makes me incredibly happy; I say, “Bring it on!”Oh my gosh, thanks to everyone, Meghan continues. After Catherine St-Laurent’s one-year tenure as Archewell’s executive director ended in March 2021, Holt was tapped to take her place.Since October 2017, when Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton ran the Royal Foundation, he has been one of Prince Harry’s longest serving team members, in charge of communications.Mr. Holt, who has worked for the Liberal Democrats in the past, was previously Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK spokesman. He graduated from the University of Lincoln with a degree in journalism and worked as the party’s head of media from 2010 till 2013. Before becoming Nick Clegg’s director of communications, Mr. Holt served as the latter’s special adviser. And between 2016 and 2017, he served as Pride in London’s communications director pro bono.

Since the couple’s other lucrative media partnership with Spotify expired in June after one season of Meghan’s podcast Archetypes, the success of the Invictus documentary is highly anticipated. On August 16, Netflix released the first official trailer for the upcoming season. For the Netflix film adaptation of Carley Fortune’s love story Meet Me at the Lake, Harry and Meghan have reportedly paid £3 million.
