Deadly Attack Unfolds in Kwara State’s Alalubosa Community

Tragedy struck the peaceful community of Alalubosa in Okoolowo, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State as a group of unidentified gunmen launched a deadly attack on Tuesday night.

During the horrifying incident, one individual, identified as AbdulRasheed Alafara, lost his life, while his two siblings sustained gunshot injuries.

In a further distressing turn of events, the assailants abducted the mother of the victims, leaving the community in shock and anguish.

Gunmen’s Assault and Abduction

The assailants, estimated to be around six in number and armed with AK-47 rifles, descended upon the Kwara community under the cover of darkness.

With ruthless determination, they began firing shots indiscriminately, sending residents who were outside at the time fleeing for their safety.

During the chaotic attack, AbdulRasheed Alafara was struck by a bullet in the leg as he attempted to escape. Tragically, he met his demise when the assailants mercilessly attacked him with machetes.

Injured Siblings and Vigilante Response

In the aftermath of the attack, two of the deceased’s siblings, Semiat Mukaila and Abdullahi, suffered gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

It was the vigilante group in the community that courageously confronted the gunmen, engaging in a firefight with them.

As a result of this confrontation, one of the assailants lost his life.

Urgent Appeal for Enhanced Security Measures

Abdullahi, one of the victims, urgently appealed to the government to bolster the capabilities of the community’s vigilantes to enhance the overall security situation in the state.

He recounted the harrowing events of the night, highlighting the abduction of their mother, the tragic loss of his brother, and the injuries sustained by him and his sister.

Abdullahi also expressed his concern regarding the delayed response of the police, who arrived several hours after being alerted to the incident.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

Confirming the distressing incident, the spokesman for the Kwara State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, affirmed that a police team had been dispatched to the scene.

The authorities are actively investigating the attack, aiming to apprehend the culprits responsible for the violence and abduction in Alalubosa Community.
