Godi re-elected APC leader for third time since party’s formation

Themba Godi has been re-elected as president of the African People’s Convention (APC) for the third time since the party’s inception in 2007.

Enerst Hlathi and Mandla Mokoena, who previously served as deputy president and Treasurer-General, have been re-elected.

The APC’s elective congress is now taking place in Giyani, Limpopo.

Themba Godi founded the party after resigning as deputy president of the Pan-Africanist Congress of Azania due to floor-crossing.

Godi left the PAC with Zingisa Nkhabile, an Eastern Cape provincial representative, and Malesela Ledwaba, a Gauteng provincial representative.

The party retained its seat in parliament in the 2014 national election but lost it in the 2019 election.

Former Eastern Cape provincial leader, Sonwabile Ngonini has been elected new Chairperson of the party.

The conference will be concluded on Monday.
